If you’ve been keeping an eye on the movements brewing  on the West Coast, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the Bay Area’s HBK Gang and one of their early standouts, Sage The Gemini. Hip-Hop Wired caught up with the rising 20-year-old to discuss his two singles “Red Nose” and “Gas Pedal,” his new deal with Universal, and more.

“I never plan anything, ’cause when you plan it’s just like Jenga. If you take one piece of the plan out, the whole thing will fall,” said Sage on his formula for success.

That’s a luxury afforded to an artist with youth on their side and a natural following that hasn’t been jaded by the woes of the industry. Fortunately this up-and-comer has a strong team, or in this case a gang, that stands for peace and positivity.

His two aforementioned tracks have each garnered over eight million views — it’s increased by two million since we spoke — on YouTube since being uploaded in June and March, respectively.

On future efforts, the rapper will flex another one of his many talents: his singing ability. Until then, get acquainted with Sage The Gemini below.
