Not sure about you, but Danny Brown‘s upcoming album Old is highly sought after around these parts. And this was before the Detroit wordsmith decided to release the intro, “Side A (Old).”
“They want that old Danny Brown/To bag up and sell a whole pound/Might have to go and get my braids back/Matter fact, go and bring them AKs back,” chants the chorus. And that’s fitting on a track that features the animated lyricist employing a style similar to what longtime fans heard 2010’s The Hybrid.
The production differs from the hyper, ultra electronic music we’ve heard thus far. Instead, grimy synths echo as boom bap drums knock throughout the menacing piece.
From the sound of it, Old will be a well rounded LP shaped by an array of musical influences. We won’t know if this is the case until it drops September 30 via Fool’s Gold records. Hear “Side A (Old)” below.
