Did you get your hands on a new iPhone 5 this weekend? You have company. Apple reports that it sold nine million new iPhones in just three days after the September 20 release of new models.

The tally includes the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c versions of the smartphone. By comparison, last year’s iPhone 5 release sold five million its first weekend of availability.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO via a press statment. The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”

The iPhone 5s features the Apple-designed A7 64-bit chip, an 8 megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash and the Touch ID tech that lets you unlock your phone with your fingerprint.
