Three people waiting on line (or near a line) for a pair of limited edition Air Jordan V “Bel Airs” caught bullets instead on early Saturday morning (Oct. 5) in Delaware. Two men and a woman were shot near the Villa store on North Market street in Wilmington.

Reports Delaware Online:

The two men, ages 21 and 22, were in front of the store at about 5:30 a.m., when they were approached by a black male, said Cpl. Jamaine Crawford, spokesman for Wilmington police.

Words were exchanged and the man shot both victims in the upper body. A woman was grazed by a passing bullet, Crawford said.

Police learned the two victims had been taken to Wilmington Hospital in a private vehicle. They later were taken to Christiana Hospital, where they remain in critical condition, Crawford said.

The woman was treated and released from Wilmington Hospital, he said.

Several dozen people were still in line when the store opened just after 10 a.m. Some had been there since 5 a.m.

One man, who stood in line with his dog, said the victims were not in the sneaker line.

That’s nice to know.

Reportedly the woman that was grazed was actually the first in line. A witness was adamant that the shooting had nothing to do with the coveted sneakers (interestingly, those in line were waiting for Boys sizes since the men’s run was handled they previously distributed tickets).

“This wasn’t about the shoes. It just gives the place a bad name,” said the witness. “They [the shooting victims] were nearby but it had nothing to do with this.”
