Snoop Dogg Changes Name Again, Dropping Funk Album

Snoop Dogg, aka Snoop Lion, has changed his name, again. The Long Beach rapper is dropping a funk album with Dam-Funk, and he has changed his name to Snoopzilla accordingly.

The new collaborative album is called 7 Days of Funk and will be out December 10 via Stones Throw Records.

“We’re the babies of the Mothership,” said Snoop Dogg via a press statement. “I’ve had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dam-Funk is cold. He’s keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him.”

The Snoopzilla name is a homage to legendary Parliament/Funkadlic guitarist Bootsy “Bootzilla” Collins. The collaboration with Dam-Funk has been in the works for a couple of years.

“Snoop knew what I was thinking without me having to articulate it. That’s how you know when you gel artistically with someone,” added Dam-Funk in a press statement. “These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I’ve ever heard. It’s hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and Patrice Rushen.”

The duo’s lead single is “Faden Away.”

So he went from rap to reggae to funk??? Well Snoop……… I was happy when you went to the rasta side but to again switch up seems like your trying to hard to be someone your not. Be snoop dogg, snoop lion, or snoopzilla but stay that and follow it out. Constantly switching who u are to gain new followers will only cause you to loose your followers.

      Wow, really.

Dam Funk is a beast…truly underrated talent who has been killing the funk for years. Snoop’s play on Bootzilla is cool and this should be a fun project.
