Black Moon‘s seminal debut classic, Enta Da Stage, is 20 years old. If those words aren’t registering, we suggest you watch this six minute documentary called Black Moon: The Beginnings about the Brooklyn rap group’s inception.

The short mini-doc is loaded with plenty of jewels about the album that spawned joints like “Who Got Da Props?,” “Buck Em Down” and “I Gotcha Opin.” For example, Buckshot and 5FT proudly recall getting their start as dancers before becoming MCs and while discussing the recording of their breakthrough single “Who Got Da Props?,” with Evil Dee proudly states he engineered the single himself. Also, the album was going to be called Ack Like You Want It., before Buckshot convinced everyone Enta Da Stage would be a better look.

In addition, Black Moon will be kicking a special online streaming performance of Enta Da Stage on October 19, the exact 20th anniversary, of the album’s release, at 4 p.m. EST over at turntable.com.

Watch the Guy Blelloch and Shane Gill-directed Black Moon: The Beginnings below.
