Nas has displayed a knowledge and affinity for world culture throughout his career. Today, we discover that he’ll bring a real life Hip-Hop tale to the silver screen via a documentary, titled Shake The Dust.

The Queens rapper served as an executive producer in collaboration with documentarian Adam Sjoberg and producer David Jacobson (co-produced Lee Daniels’ The Butler) for a film that details how breakdancing has been a conduit for social change across the world.

According to hollywoodreporter.com, Nas is also set to contribute create original music for the movie’s soundtrack.

“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet,” explained Nas in a statement. “After hearing Adam’s vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment.”

No formal release date has been given for the documentary, but the official trailer for Shake The Dust can be seen below.
