A Tribe Called Quest’s recent foray with the Barclays Center is still buzzing on the net. Allegedly it was to be the group’s final show as a unit.

3/4’s of the storied Hip-Hop group sat backstage with REVOLT TV to go in to a bit of depth of their legacy. Although they were missing the most visible–and vocal member in Q-Tip, the other members, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi still had enough jewels to pass along to the cameras.

“We just wanted to be fly,” remembered Jarobi, who started out as the original hypeman on the group’s first album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. Given the fact that no man can predict the future, it’s a safe bet to say all expectation were exceeded in full. As for the rumors of it being the Tribe’s swan song, their thoughts surrounding it definitely didn’t feel like a farewell.

“Even though it is the last show, I act like it isn’t,” added a reflective Phife Dawg.

Whether or not the four-man collective will really part like the Red Sea remains to be determined but they’ve surely been capitalizing on the moment. They recently assisted longtime collaborator, Busta Rhymes on his new single, “Thank You.” And Stephanie Santiago will surely seen new opportunities rise thanks to her portrayal of “Bonita Applebum,” one of the greatest fictional characters ever to grace a Hip-Hop song.

Watch ATCQ spill some magic beans in the video below. On the flipside, OkayPlayer caught up with Phife “The 5 Footer” to wood grill him over “The Questions.”
