One homage to Run D.M.C. isn’t enough by adidas’ standards. As the year comes to a close, sneaker lovers have one more pair to get their hands on.
Tis the season to be festive, so this exclusive pair of Superstar 80s, also known as the “shell toe,” have been coined the “Christmas in Hollis.” This release was also done in collaboration with late artist Keith Haring, whose artwork can be found on the tongue.
Outside of that small red tab, the kicks embody the spirit of the Queens rap legends. Here, adidas flip the style of the shoes worn by Run, D.M.C., and Jam Master Jay, rather than use the classic black and white colorway seen on this year’s previous Run D.M.C. shoe.
Black and white are still the principle colors, but they’re placed differently. A majority of the upper is black, while the sole and midsole are white. The shoes also come without laces in the spirt of the legendary collective.
On Friday, December 20, Packer Shoes in Teaneck, NJ is having a release event at 1PM. The sneaker officially releases the following day for $140. See photos on the following pages.
