Instrumentalist Donnie Trumpet, aka Nico Segal of now defunct group Kids These Days, delivered a visual for an emotional tune called “Don’t Leave,” featuring former group member and rising Chicago MC Vic Mensa.

Though Mensa never shows face in the clip, we hear two potent verses that convey themes of love and love lost over a stirring instrumental. Trumpet, who stars in the treatment, shows viewers what the classic Hip-Hop adage, “It was all good just a week ago,” means in real time. He can be seen in a happy, fruitful relationship, but Mensa’s chants of, “Don’t leave me,” prove to be prophetic. Needless to say that this is when the sh*t hits the proverbial fan.

Naveen Chaubal directed the clip. Find “Don’t Leave” and a lot more quality music on Donnie Trumpet’s Donnie Trumpet EP, released June 2013. Check out the video for the cut below.
