The powers of darkness have backfired on a woman from Maryland after police say she and her friend stabbed and killed her two toddlers and severely injured two more during a botched exorcism.
The Poltergeist parents, Zakieya L. Avery, 28 and Monifa Sanford, 21 have both been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Via The Washington Post:
The two dead children — a boy, Norell Harris, 1, and a girl, Zyana Harris, 2 — were found Friday morning on their mother’s bed in a Germantown townhouse. Both had been stabbed repeatedly, police said. A sister, Taniya Harris, 5, and a brother, Martello Harris, 8, were seriously injured but are expected to survive.
Detectives found two knives that might have been used in the attacks — one about the size of a paring knife and the other a bit larger, police said.
It was also reported that Avery has suffered from mental health issues in the past, unsurprising given the nature of the crime.
There have been a host of supernatural crime stories appearing in the news as of late. A pastor in Minnesota recently tried to rape the “devil” out of a pair of young girls while and Oklahoma used his bible to burn his house down back in October.
The news of familiarity didn’t make it easy for the seemingly close-knit community. They held a candle-lit vigil to mourn the children.
An onlooker present at the vigil asked NBC Washington, “How can you hurt a child? To me, to hurt a child, you are a coward,” she said coldly.
