Wale laid low after his spat with Complex, and instead answered with new music. But today, he made his return to radio with an appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

During the discussion, Wale basically gave friends an update on everything he’s done since the Complex fiasco, including his Revolt TV documentary Wale: I Am From.

This was the first time the D.C. native, who’s Nigerian, visited his homeland. “It was an emotional roller coaster, ’cause my intentions — I wanted to go to the village. I wanted to see a lot of people — my family, my grandparents and all that — and the business took over it,” Wale explained.

There were limitations to what he could do and where he could visit because this was a sponsored trip. But in the end, Wale said, “I met my grandfather for the first time. It was really intense.”

Hear Wale speak more on Wale: I Am From, his issues with media, The Gifted being underrated and more in the footage below.
