Dr. Martin Luther King’s big holiday has fallen victim to all sorts of disrespect in 2014.

The most recent controversial blow to Dr. King’s legacy comes at the hands of Arizona State University fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Photos have surfaced from a “MLK” party they held during yesterday, January 20’s holiday. The disturbing images featured members of the all-white frat dressed as gang members, posing with watermelons and writing hashtags such as “#hood” on their Instagram uploads.

Naturally it didn’t take long for this to spread throughout the media like wildfire and nobody is amused.

Via KPHO:

An official statement from the university said ASU has suspended the chapter’s operations and will take “additional action against the individuals involved.”

The university also said the ASU chapter was already on social probation and not allowed to have parties, noting that last weekend’s party was not on campus and not a university sanctioned event.

Although it was an unregistered Greek event, the university still said the actions “will not be tolerated.

Not-so-ironically, the TKE chapter is coming off a suspension for fights that may have been racially motivated that was just lifted in December.

There were several flyers spread across different regions of the country used to promote illicit parties with doctored images of the Civil Rights leader that angered the King family. Young Thug also released a song titled “Hundreds (I Have a Dream)” that was anything but appropriate.

Local Civil Rights leader are calling for the fraternity’s permanent disbandment from the campus and it appears they have a valid case.
