The NBA announced their lineup for the 2014 Slam Dunk contest sans LeBron James, but the reigning MVP is either continuing troll fans who wish for their hero to add the Sprite hardware to his trophy case, or he’s gearing up for a late minute surprise in this Miami Heat practice video that recently went viral.
In under a minute of footage, James racks up at least two monstrous slams that would easily have all the dunk contest judges waving their “10” scorecards up in unison. For his first trick, LeBron pulls a gravity-defying move that looks like something out of a McDonald’s commercial.
Instead of alley-ooping the ball off the background, which is commonly seen, LeBron took it step further by lobbing the rock directly off the pillar behind the background and cocked it back for a tomahawk slam after it magically landed on the court right where he needed it to be.
His teammates looked on in awe, spearheaded by Dwyane Wade who filmed the spectacle on his cellphone before giving everyone an instant replay with his T-Mobile endorsement.
LeBron wasn’t finished, however, as the point forward dashed from the baseline in another alley-oop to himself, this time for a reverse dunk with his head several inches above the rim.
There have been plenty of jaw-dropping dunks in the contest that have gone unnoticed over the years, but LeBron’s presence would surely perk things up, even with the likes of Paul George and John Wall entering 2014’s competition.
