Trae Tha Truth recently helped Marlon Wayans and his WhatTheFunny.com imprint lift of the crowd with his own cartoon series and according the youngest member of the storied comedian family, that particular venture didn’t even begin to scratch the surface on the stomachs they intend to tickle.
Deadspin caught up with Randy Adams who is the co-founder of uproarious laughter hub FunnyOrDie.com and now the co-founder of WhatTheFunny, which will primary target an African-American sense of humor.
In a nutshell, the WTF team are actually looking towards steering away from the confines of being a YouTube celebrity and giving aspiring comedians a real shot at maintaining a career within the industry.
“YouTube is a great way for emerging artists to garner an audience, but a very difficult place to build a sustainable business,” Adams tells Deadspin. “We are helping YouTube artists actually make money by sharing higher advertising revenue with them and giving them and off-YouTube destination for their content.”
Considering the long list of resources and contacts Wayans and Adams both have their immediate disposal, look for more big spots and spoofs to land on the website’s lap. For example, there is the recently released lost Super Bowl “commercial” from Terrell Owens, who needs the laugh and credit score update, found below and Damon Wayans Jr.’s “B.T.A.N.” (found on the next page) that look to immediately draw in viewers searching for original content.
