TDE’s Isaiah Rashad Discusses Cilvia Demo EP & The Grammys [VIDEO]

All eyes are on Isaiah Rashad following the release of his acclaimed Cilvia Demo EP. Hip-Hop Wired recently sat with the Chattanooga, Tenn. MC at the height of his newfound popularity to discuss his debut project, joining TDE, and his thoughts on the Grammys following Kendrick Lamar’s highly panned loss to Macklemore.

“Cilvia,” the name of Rashad’s ’95 Honda Civic, is an important part of the wordsmith’s backstory. It also represents a “new chapter” in his life, as he relishes in his role as the youngest member of perhaps Hip-Hop’s most appealing collective. As fate would have it, the southerner would sign with a label that his sights were actually on some time prior to signing. “Before I signed, I had always looked up to TDE,” Rashad said, citing the quality of their music and their business acumen.

Two days prior to Cilvia Demo releasing, the rising rapper saw just how differently those outside of Hip-Hop view the culture when his label mate K. Dot was snubbed at the Grammy awards. “Me personally, I just feel like it shouldn’t matter,” he said in reference to taking home statue from the annual ceremony. “I can’t be everybody else and think that this [Grammys] is more important. It’s what we do that’s important.”
