FOX isn’t cutting any corners in ensuring their upcoming Hip-Hop series, Empire gets off the ground following its pilot episode.

Even if it means calling on the expertise and most likely, expensive services of superproducer Timbaland.

Variety has discovered that Timbaland will be on board to produce and write music for the drama, which revolves around a record label executive juggling family, friends and the unseen grit of the music business.

Terrence Howard will star as that executive and he’ll be accompanied on-screen with his Hustle & Flow co-star, Taraji P. Henson. Empire will also be written by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, who shared great success together with the film Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

The 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning producer has been biding his time wisely since manning the wheel of Justin Timberlake’s last two projects.

He most recently shared success with his longtime friends and collaborators Shawn and Beyoncé Carter on their respective platinum albums.
