Samsung has been battling for smartphone and mobile device dominance for much of the past year, and a new music service was announced Friday (March 7) that could bolster the company. The technology giant introduced a free streaming radio service, Milk Music, for use on a wide array of Samsung’s modern mobile devices.
In a nutshell, Samsung’s Milk Music service gives users a choice of 200 ad-free stations that are customizable to every listener’s preference. With a slick interface and a variety of choices, Samsung hopes Milk Music becomes a gold standard in the increasingly crowded streaming radio space.
“Milk introduces a fresh approach to music that reflects our innovation leadership and our focus on creating best-in-class consumer experiences,” said Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America and Samsung Electronics North America Headquarters in a press release. “We’re offering consumers amazing, rich music experiences built around what matters most to them and their lifestyle.”
Milk Music makes use of an snazzy dial-based graphic that users wield to surf through the vast library of sounds. With no log-in required, Milk Music aims to make the process of rocking out on your phones or tablets seamless as possible.
Not all Samsung owners will have access to Milk Music, however. The downloadable free app will only work on the Galaxy S4, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Mega and the Galaxy S4 mini across all carrier and retail channels. The highly anticipated Galaxy S 5 in April will also be able to run the Milk Music app.
