A disgruntled ScHoolboy Q, who played a series of shows at the annual musical experience, does not plan to return to South By Southwest next year. The Oxymoron MC experienced his first festival a few years back, but was less than pleased with this year’s conference held in Austin, Tex.

According to the Washington Post, everywhere he turned, Q noticed his fans were standing outside venues festooned with corporate branding, unable to enter because they didn’t have a formal invite.

“It’s stupid. They changed it all up. It’s corporate,” he said while getting ready to perform on Saturday. “I don’t ever want to come back unless they change it to where the fans are in. I’m tired of performing and seeing my fans outside the gate. … That’s not fair. It’s not about the fans no more, it’s all about money, who can give you the best look.”

It seems as though the rapper’s comments are warranted. Many of this year’s participants claim the focus has shifted to promoting already established artists at the expense of helping new brands get discovered, the initial core focus.
