All of our talk about Pharrell celebrating the “year of the flourish” were initially just for kicks. But today’s announcement that the accomplished producer inked a sneaker and apparel deal with adidas confirms that he can’t be stopped.

Known as a fashion maven in his own right for his personal style, creating Ice Cream and Billionaire Boys Club, and recent collaborations with Comme des Garçons, Uniqlo, and more, it’s no surprise that Pharrell would pull off perhaps his grandest collaborative feat to date.

The pieces and footwear in the upcoming adidas x Pharrell collection will be made using the Grammy winner’s Bionic Yarn, which turns discarded plastic into usable thread.

“Working with an iconic brand like adidas is such an incredible opportunity. From the classic track suit, to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths, adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and for Bionic Yarn,” Pharrell said in a statement.

Needless to say that Skateboard P isn’t the only one winning these days. In addition to the avant-garde creative, the German sportswear brand’s roster now includes Rick Owens, Mark McNairy, Yohji Yamamoto, Jeremy Scott, Nigo, and a guy you might be familiar with named Kanye West.

Pharrell’s adidas collection is slated for a summer 2014 release. Also, for the record, we’d like to say that our primary focus was always on his leather adidas track jackets while the world went crazy for those Vivienne Westwood hats.
