Jacob Arabov better known to the Hip-Hop community as Jacob the Jeweler was forced to forfeit a large sum of cash to the U.S. Attorney’s office as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to 2 ½ years in jail in 2008 for conspiring to launder drug profits for BMF, The Black Mafia Family. According to the Associated Press, the former jeweler gave up $2 million in return for a lesser charge.

By law, drug money can only be dispersed and divided up between law enforcement agencies. Arabov’s money was distributed to various enforcement agencies in the Detroit area, where the Black Mafia Family was originally based. The federal government gave $267,200 to police in Detroit, Birmingham, Groose Ille, Livonia and the Livingston County Sheriff department. The city of River Rouge police received close to $200,000 and Waterford Township police, nearly $70,000. They government will keep $400,000 of the money.

Jacob is now expected to receive 37 to 52 months in jail which will cut his jail time.
