Another day, another dollar. Or in the case of Lupita Nyong’o, another day, another cover story. This time, the award-winning actress is one of three who sits on the lid of Marie Claire magazine’s “Fresh Faces” edition.

Nyong’o shares the cover respectively with Hollywood actresses Kate Mara and Elle Fanning, á la the Essence triple cover featuring Ledisi, Solange and Erykah Badu.

Inside the issue, Nyong’o articulates her thoughts on her recent compliments since winning the Oscar for her role as Patsey in 12 Years A Slave. “Being called gorgeous is not a bad thing!” said Nyong’o at The Carlyle hotel in New York City. “But at the same time, I don’t want to thrive on people’s opinions of me.”

She went on to talk about fashion and being newly considered a symbol of it. “I wasn’t a follower of fashion,” said the 31-year-old. “It was a world unknown. Then I met my stylist, Micaela Erlanger [introduced to her by friend and Non-Stop costar Michelle Dockery], and we came to interpret my style: clean lines, strong color. I don’t dress to impress; I don’t feel that pressure.”
