2014 is shaping up to be a solid year for Hip-Hop, and that’s even more apparent with the announcement of a new LP from The Roots. Titled …and then you shoot your cousin, today fans receive official word that the project will arrive on May 20.

This will be the legendary Roots crew’s second attempt at creating a concept album. Black Thought says that the group’s latest creation is in the same vein as 2011’s undun, with exception to there being multiple characters in this more elaborate tale. A week ago, the Internets received the first piece of the puzzle with “When The People Cheer.”

In addition to the proper release date, The Roots unveil the artwork, which is an “analog of the gritty-yet-avant-garde dissonance that defines the new record.” The piece, titled “Pittsburgh Memory,” is by artist Romare Bearden and dates back to 1964.
