Last week, wrestling fans worldwide were saddened by news of the untimely passing of the Ultimate Warrior. An autopsy report reveals that the legendary wrestling icon’s cause of death was a heart attack caused by cardiovascular disease.

Report the Hollywood Reporter:

WWE star The Ultimate Warrior’s death on April 8 was from “natural causes,” according to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office.

The wrestler, whose real name was James Hellwig, collapsed in Scottsdale, Ariz., while walking his wife to their car at a hotel and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. He was 54.

The official cause of death is “atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” a representative from the medical examiner’s office confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, and no further investigation is expected.

Despite the findings, there will surely be grumblings that a cause of said disease was steroid use due to the nature of his profession and past abuse by participants of the drug.

The Ultimate Warrior was just 54 years-old and is survived by his wife, Dana, and two children.
