Swizz Beatz has come a long way since his humble beginnings in the Bronx. Kicking off Bronx Week 2014, which coincides with the borough’s 100th anniversary, the producer was one of handful of inductees to be awarded with the Bronx Walk Of Fame honor.

Swizz Beatz, born Kasseem Dean, was joined by four other Bronx natives across various fields. Actor David Zayas of Dexter fame, film and television actress Rachel Ticotin, New York Jets guard William Colon III, and Tony Award-winning stage actress Priscilla Lopez were the other honorees for the Walk Of Fame. There will be an awards ceremony on May 18 where the Walk Of fame will be revealed to the public.

Borough president Ruben Diaz Jr. praised the honorees in a brief statement, and the induction will be a part of a series of events that will be held over the next weeks.

“2014 is our county’s centennial, and I can think of no better way to celebrate the best of our borough than by welcoming home these five individuals, who have made a major impact in their respective fields, back to where it all began, right here in The Bronx,” wrote Diaz Jr.

Swizz Beatz was also excited about the honor, and posted several photos to his Instagram account around his old stomping grounds in celebration.

From Swizz Beatz’s Instagram page:

“Today is a real day to remember for me!! In 1998 today “Stop Drop” came out. This very same day in 2014 to announce getting inducted into the BRONX Walk Of Fame. For that honor the BX will name a street after me. I’m calling it SWIZZ BEATZ ST. To reflect on this great moment I went back to my old hood on Boston RD and chilled in my old backyard.  #Bronx100 #BX”
