Ty Dolla $ign.

You most likely have been hearing the name buzzing from one beehive or another, but if you haven’t totally honed in on his talents, you have been missing out on an intoxicating wave.

It all began during the closing months of 2013 when the Taylor Gang signee released his single “Paranoid” which immediately lit up radio stations like a pinball machine. (A feat we took notice to on our year-end wrapup.) Hip-Hop Wired sat down with Ty$ to see how he recalled hearing it the first time and if the record’s crazy story is fact or fiction.

“I was on tour [with Wiz] and everybody was calling me like, ‘Yo, like they playing this sh*t!,’ he recalled. “So I got the app on my phone from Power 106 and was bugging out.” The cautionary tale of running into two lovers while out in public was indeed a true one, which happened to take place at LA’s Supperclub, a spot who has become embroiled in drama as of late.

The ensuing months for the R&B sensation have been a whirlwind for the Los Angeles native, born Tyrone Griffin. Fellow West Coast superstar YG recently let the cat out the bag that he had a formed a record label alongside DJ Mustard as well as being a rare R&B choice for the XXL Freshmen. “I’m definitely a singer,” Ty$ admits. “I don’t wanna f****g battle Kendrick or none of them n****s, you feel me?” he said with a laugh.

Get your quick and easy fix of Ty extra $ by downloading the Beach House EP from iTunes and catch him on a tour near you.
