LeBron James has shown flashes of his charisma during his rise to becoming a NBA superstar. Now, the Miami Heat standout will get to show off his acting chops in the upcoming film Trainwreck from director Judd Apatow.
On Wednesday, Apatow posted a video message on his Facebook page directed towards James regarding the player joining the cast. As expected from Apatow, he took the humor route in the clip while playfully asking James to hurry up with the NBA playoffs.
“Hey LeBron, I know you’re busy with the playoffs, and I know you need to win a certain amount of games to win something,” said Apatow. “We’re so glad you’re joining the cast of my next film, Trainwreck. Now the world will finally get to see what your true gifts are.”
Apatow also mentions James’ co-stars which include Amy Schumer, Bill Hader, Jon Glaser, John Cena, and Wu-Tang Clan killer bee Method Man. According to Variety magazine, Schumer wrote the screenplay but the plot details have been kept hidden. Considering Schumer’s past work and Apatow’s penchant for comedy, fans should expect something along those lines.
There may be more LeBron James in Hollywood as Universal Pictures just acquired the rights to a film that focuses on James’ high school playing days. The film is produced by Rachel and Terrence Winter.
Hey LeBron, try to do better than your NBA peer Shaquille O’Neal did with Kazaam.
