LaRhonda Petit, the 41-year-old daughter of the late James Brown, is making headlines with claims that her father’s body is missing.

In an interview with Britain’s Daily Mirror she’s quoted as saying,

“My daddy’s body has disappeared. I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where. I’m convinced his death was suspicious and I want the people responsible brought to justice. The only way to do that is to exhume his body and have an autopsy. I cannot understand why one was never conducted.”

Now the funeral director responsible for the soul singer’s arrangements is refuting those claims.

Funeral director Charlie Reid of C.A. Funeral Home in Augusta, GA says that’s absolutely not true. According to Reid, the body is in a two tier mausoleum in the yard of another of Brown’s children Deanna Brown-Thomas. He spoke out against Petit saying,

“There’s no truth to that. It would have had to have gone through us. We would have been contacted if that happened.”

The 73-year-old singer died on Christmas Day of 2006 from a heart attack.

The family of James Brown will reportedly make a statement on the rumors in the coming days.
