Michael Sam, the first openly gay player on an NFL roster, has just landed a reality TV deal with Miss Oprah Winfrey.

Upon being newly drafted as a defensive end for the St. Louis Rams, Sam gets his own reality show on Oprah’s TV network, reps confirm to TMZ. Taping for the show – which will chronicle Sam’s journey into the National Football League – has already begun.

In fact, Oprah’s crew was reportedly on-site when Sam learned he had been drafted by the St. Louis Rams, the same room where he smooched his boyfriend, causing tons of controversy (aha).

Oprah issued a statement saying this about the series: “We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever.”

No word on when the show will debut or how the Rams feel about the situation. Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
