Former NFL tight end, Aaron Hernandez, has been newly indicted for a double murder that occurred before he began training camp with the New England Patriots.

Hernandez, who’s currently incarcerated on charges for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, is now being charged for the murders of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado who were shot to death on July 16, 2012 while stopped at a traffic light.

According to the Boston Globe:

Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez was indicted today on two counts of first-degree murder in the killing of two men in Boston’s South End in 2012 , Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

Hernandez is accused of murdering Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The two men were shot to death on July 16, 2012, while stopped at a traffic light by someone who drove up alongside them in an SUV with Rhode Island plates and opened fire.

Conley said that after a “chance encounter” between Hernandez, Abreu and Furtado at a Boston nightclub, Hernandez trailed the men in his car after they left. Hernandez then pulled his car up to theirs, firing a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol into the car, killing Abreu and Furtado, and injuring a third man.

Relatives of Abreu and Furtado have reportedly filed wrongful death lawsuits in Suffolk Superior Court. Both families are demanding that Hernandez pay each $6 million in damages. See below a comment made over Twitter by Hernandez’s defense team. Sound off at the bottom.
