Three people were gunned down at a hotel in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Saturday (May 24), in one of two shootings  in the area that night. Two others were injured in the violence, which broke out at the Bermuda Sands Motel.

A gunman opened fire injuring a man during a fight that escalated. The victim, Keith Williams, was hit by a Black male suspect in black pants and a white shirt, authorities said.

After injuring Williams, the shooter continued to the hotel’s second floor and fired shots at others involved in the fight . Jamie Williams, 28, Gaddis Barnwell, 22, and Devonte Dantzler, 21 were confirmed dead by the Horry County deputy coroner. It is unclear if they had any involvement in the disagreement.

All three deaths were ruled homicides. “You always try to prepare for the unexpected. We’ve had shooting incidents before,” said Myrtle Beach Police Captain David Knipes.

The beach town is a go-to spot for Memorial Day weekend festivities. Police were back investigating the scene Sunday, they have not identified a suspect. An anonymous witness said the fight erupted after “Somebody told somebody to move out the streets.” A video of the brawl was posted on an Instagram account.
