Twitter can be a tricky place when it comes to hashtags and racism. The latest examples is the Washington Football TeamPride trending topic that went horrible wrong.

First it was “#askRKelly” and then “#MyNYPD” and now the Washington Washington Football Team have logged the latest Twitter Hashtag campaign gone horribly wrong.

The NFL franchise has been fending off mounting criticism for the use of their name and its racist origins, but ownership attempted to rally the fans on social media to tell Senator Harry Reid–a vocal critic– to express their Washington Football TeamPride. Check out an example of how those in favor of the name change used the hashtag below, and check out more examples over at The Urban Daily.
