Catfish, MTV’s irresistible hour dedicated to Internet trolling occasionally ventures into the realm of Hip-Hop for some uproarious results. Last fall, a fake Bow Wow was the subject of a young lady’s love interest but the most recent rap episode had nothing to do with romantic plotlines.

It featured Jerez Coleman, 19 a.k.a. his stage name Kidd Cole, who has quite the reputation as a con man around the D.C. metro area.

A Philadelphia woman enlisted the services of hosts Nev and Max after she had been duped by Cole after he claimed to be signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint and tricked her into obtaining thousands of dollars in limo service and security bills for press events that didn’t exist. He also bold-faced lied about working with Wale and RZA.

To make matters worse, this isn’t Coleman’s first rodeo for fraud. In fact, he even tricked Virginia Commonwealth University into thinking he was opening up for Big Sean and showed up to the university (in a limo) and spoke in a fake accent. He is scheduled to appear in court in August and undergo a mental evaluation for his delusions of grandeur.

The Washington City Paper even pointed out that a Facebook page dedicated to exposing his lies had been created sometime in February.

Watch the show’s recap below and continue on to the gallery to see some of the people who also had a real life run-in with Cole. Money may have redefined the term “struggle rapper” as we know it.
