“This case is a reminder that violent acts fueled by bigotry and hate continue to happen all too frequently in our nation, even in 2010,” said Thomas Perez, assistant attorney general in charge of the Justice Department’s civil rights division.

In an attempt to create their own version of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre, three men  have been sentences to prison after forcing a Black man out of a convenience store.

Maybe tough talk has become obsolete.

Using a chainsaw to as a means of intimidation, the men were able to move the African-American male from the premises, and even proceeded to steal his car after.

With the incident occurring back in 2007, Thomas Blue Sr., 49, owner of the convenience store, was sentenced to 13 years behind bars.  Judson Hartley Talbert, also involved, was given nine years and Blue’s son, Thomas Blue Jr, 29, was given three years in prison.

Pleading guilty back in December, they admitted to conspiring to deprive Dahndra “Ervin” Moore of his right to engage in a federally protected activity, which would be simply entering the store, along with conspiring to carjacking his vehicle, according to authorities.

According to a statement released, Blue Sr. “escorted” Moore out of the Stop N Shop after he entered to use the bathroom.

“Once outside, the elder Blue forced the victim to the ground and Blue Jr. threatened the victim with a chainsaw while a small crowd watched,” according to the Department of Justice statement.

While pinned to the floor, Talbert stole Moore’s vehicle.  Reports state that Blue Sr. used a pistol to threaten two white men that he believed were trying to aid the victim and trying to get his car back.

Jack Swirling, the attorney for Blue Sr., described the act as being unacceptable and stated that his client is remorseful and added that his heavy drinking was the general spark behind the occurrence.

Wow, definitely wasn’t trying to make the situation any lighter for himself to know that he might regularly drink on the job AND is the owner.

Only in America people, only in America.
