A police sergeant in San Antonio Texas is on leave with pay after shooting a man who pointed a gun at him.

According to reports, police sergeant Joel Rios was in plain clothes when a man jumped out in front of his unmarked car. After the officer displayed his badge, police state that the 32-year-old man pulled what police thought was a pistol, so they fired shooting the man in the torso and arm.

After the shooting, police discovered that the “pistol” was actually a water gun.

“The suspect hopped out and told Sergeant Rios-“I Fawking have something for you”, a police officer stated, “It turns out it was a dark purple water pistol, but from a distance you can’t tell the difference- it looks like a gun.”

According to police, the suspect is expected to make a full recovery.  The entire incident started after Sergeant Rios saw the man harassing an elderly man and pulling the “pistol” out and pointing it at passing cars. Police state that the man was drunk at the time of arrest.

SMH, this story could have been tragic.  He better count his blessings that he only received a shot to the arm for a stunt like this.
