Director Rian Johnson, whose previous credits include 2012’s Looper and a few episodes of Breaking Bad, is officially taking his talents to a galaxy far, far away.

He has been named to director for Star Wars: Episode VIII while the next one is currently being made.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson will only direct Episode VIII but he’ll also be penning a treatment (which will be heavily considered) for the sequel following that one.

J.J. Abrams is currently directing Episode VII to much fan excitement, but the shooting hasn’t been without its share of setbacks.

With today’s social media climate, the film has fell victim to leaks that have went viral (an issue Abrams has taken in jest) and one of the film’s main stars took a nasty tumble that sidelined them for a lengthy time period.

It was initially reported that Harrison Ford, who is reprising his role as Han Solo, broke his ankle on the set of the Millenium Falcon. As it has been discovered by US Magazine, it was actually his leg that he broke and he’s looking at a recovery and rehab period of around eight weeks.

Star Wars: Episode VII is due out in theaters December 18, 2015.
