Vic Mensa is positioning himself in an interesting space in music with experimental sonics, awhile pushing himself to the limits as a MC. Following his house music-inspired single “Down On My Luck,” the rising Chicago wordsmith delivers “Major Payne.”

Produced by Michael Uzowuru, the track pulls influences from house, EDM, and trap music. It’s almost like bespoke production at times, because outside of Mensa, few rappers can maneuver through the pockets of the stripped down record.

“Major Payne” was a freebie, but Mensa is set to impact the Hip-Hop with more new music on his Street Lights EP, due to release soon. Stream the song below and be sure to give us your thoughts on it in the comments.
