Anyone who leaves the security blanket of a salaried corporate job to pursue a career in [rap] music has to be either really optimistic about their future as an artist, or a pure pipe dreamer.

Maryland MC Dunson readily admits he’s trapped in between both boulders on his latest single “Broke A$$ Dope A$$ Rapper.” Just a couple of years ago, Dunson was rooted in Baltimore as a financial advisor the wealthy but in the present, he’s an accomplished rap poet. The track harkens back to the honesty of a Little Brother with the melodic sensibilities of a Childish Gambino.

Dunson recently sat down with our #1 Black Twitter Music Maven, Sway Calloway discuss humble beginnings and present day winnings. He reveals that he was indeed a product of section 8 and used to draw and write rhymes as a means to escape reality. His work ethic lead to him linking up with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, John Legend and even dropping beats for Yo Gotti.

Peep the “Broke A$$ Dope A$$ Rapper” record below as it sets the precedence for the upcoming Outlier EP this fall. If you like, there is more with this came from via his Soundcloud.
