News broke of Nick Cannon potentially playing the late, great Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic, but much of the details remain unclear about the film. Luckily, Hip-Hop Wired had a chance to sit with the actor, comedian, and pretty much jack of all trades to get some clarity.
“It’s interesting. I’m trying to be as politically correct and handle it in a way, because it’s a lot of people in the past who’ve claimed to have this role,” Cannon said. Per his response, there must be more red tape to go through on the business side of things, but the Wild’n Out creator did say, “the film isn’t in production yet, so anything can happen. But just say I’m doing the work.”
Cannon’s alleged affiliation with the film has been met with discord from the comedian’s son and daughter, Richard Pryor Jr. and Rain Pryor, who’ve expressed their thoughts on who should have the role.
See Nick Cannon speak more about Richard Pryor and how his father introduced him to the legend’s comedy early on in the clip above.
