Kevin Gates, who plays a fly on the wall, takes a look at domestic violence in the official video treatment for “Posed to be in Love.”

Off his latest By Any Means mixtape, “Posed to be in Love” follows a young couple and their encounter with physical abuse, with Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star Erica Pinkett appearing as the leading lady.

The open scene shows Baton Rouge rapper on the phone uttering the words “I thought it was legal to beat your hoe.” In an Instagram post published days prior to the video premiere, Gates explains: “A lot of people misconstrue what I say when I say ‘I thought it was legal to beat your hoe. I was never talking about exhibiting any physicality, I was talking about mentally and emotionally.”

We’re still a little skeptical about his response. What exactly does he mean when he says “B-b-beat a b*tch like chris brown, go back to jail no quittin”?

Peep the cinematography below. Chime in at the bottom.
