Run This Town: 11 Mayors Who Went Down For Corruption [Photos]

Dishonesty isn’t a trait that should come into politics yet it might just be the most popular one in politics. Of the many corrupt politicians that have gone through the revolving door of  public expulsion, apology, and jail time (in some cases) mayors are just as popular for breaking the law as their state and government counterparts.

The rounds of high profile mayoral takedowns make it clear that we’ve graduated from the level of scandal that made Marion Barry famous, and that Rob Ford took to another level.

Just this week, former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin became the latest political falls from grace. Nagin –the man who became known for his  tireless protection over the cities resident during Hurricane Katrina —  was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, following a  conviction on 20  counts for bribery, money laundering, and wire fraud.

Nagin says he’s innocent but his alleged schemes (involving city bribes for city contracted jobs) is a move that has been made several time over. Check out 11 mayors who went down for corruption in the gallery.
