Last weekend, the 10th annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival invaded the Williamsburg section of the borough. While the even was full of vendors, good food, and performances by newcomers and legends alike, it was a rare performance by Jay Electronica, who invited Jay Z, J Cole, Talib Kweli and Mac Miller on stage, that took the show.
For one, the New Orleans-born lyricist is one of Hip-Hop’s most enigmatic figures. He often deletes his tweets quicker than a Mission Impossible message explodes, and he’s some of the most loyal fans, despite his long-awaited debut album sitting on ice for years.
Footage from Jay Elec’s time on stage at the BHHF circulated the Internets for much of the latter part of the weekend. But the rapper has posted candid shots of himself accompanied by members of the Nation of Islam, sharing moments on and off stage with Jay Z, and more.
