Police are thanking a man who risked his life to save a convenience store clerk that was being held up at gun point.
According to officers, the elderly man saw the crook attempting to rob the store and after the clerk was unable to open the cash register, fired two shots at the cashier’s feet. That’s when police state that the man decided to help out and hit the robber in the head with a beer bottle.
“If it wasn’t for [the elderly man], I would be dead,” the clerk said in an interview with ABC News 7. “He literally saved my life.”
Police state that after the elderly man struck the robber, he was shot four times before the robber fled the scene.
At press time the hero is in full recovery and has been released from the hospital.
