Street rap is far from a dead art form and it’s becoming much more balanced again, as opposed to when it was largely represented by trap music in mainstream music. That said, XXL Freshman Lil Bibby and Kevin Gates — two of the front runners in that realm of emceeing — team up on “We Are Strong.”
The cut is the leading single from Bibby’s upcoming Free Crack II mixtape. Produced by DJ Pain, the tune is emotionally charged with the spirit of two wordsmiths who’ve lived the lives detailed in their rhymes. Bibby and Gates pack deliver their message in couplets that are visually captivating due to their aggressiveness.
“We Are Strong” indicates that the Chicago native has improved as a songwriter since delivering 2013’s Free Crack. The follow-up project releases on August 1.
