93 passengers and 11 crew members onboard an airplane perished this morning after their plane crashed in Libya leaving one sole survivor, a 10-year-old boy.

Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A330-200 was on its way to Tripoli airport from Johannesburg, South Africa when the crashed happened around 6 a.m.

Afriqiyah Airways issued a statement earlier this morning on the troubling accident saying,

“Afriqiyah Airways announces that our flight 771 had an accident during landing at Tripoli International airport. At this moment, we have no information concerning possible casualties or survivors. Our information is that there were 93 passenger and 11 crew aboard. Authorities are conducting the search and rescue mission.”


So far 96 bodies have reportedly been recovered while rescuers search for the rest of the victims.

The 10-year-old survivor who remains unidentified, is reportedly a Dutch boy who was shown on Libyan television in the hospital being treated for his injuries.
