Everyone should have a sidehustle, but a legal one is preferred. A decorated Brooklyn principal was removed from her position after she was trying to smuggle heroin and prescription pills into an upstate New York prison.
The New York Daily News reports that Sadie Silver, 40, who was the Principal of Public School 28 in Bushwick, was arrested Friday (July 18) with Michael Acosta, 34. The cops nabbed the pair carrying heroin and prescription drugs at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility where they had prearranged a visit with an inmate.
Both Acosta and Silver were charged with promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a controlled substance, which are felonies. They were also hit with endangering the welfare of a child, which is a misdemeanor, because they were visiting the bing with Silver’s 10-year-old daughter along for the ride.
The State Police believe Silver and Acosta intended to pass the drugs off to the prisoner they were visiting, who CBS New York reports was the former’s son, Alex Mercado, who is serving time on weapons charges.
Both Silver and Acosta are out on bond. Reportedly, Silver, who didn’t actually have drugs on her, had gone from being a high school drop out and teen mother to earning a pair of Master’s degrees and working at New York City schools since 1996. We’ll go ahead and say it, What in the f*ck was she thinking?!
The Orange Is The New Black jokes are just too each with this one. Check out this struggle duo’s mugshots on the flip.
