Jamie Foxx’s classic impersonations of Mike Tyson over the years must have made an everlasting impression on the former heavyweight champ. So much to the point where Iron Mike is lobbying for the Oscar winner to portray him in what will go down as the official biopic of his life.

While out in Toronto still going strong with promotion for Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, the boxing legend told the Associated Press that he’s actually spoken to Foxx about the role and it appears that the idea will be coming into fruition.

“Me and Jamie Foxx have been talking and he’s willing to take that role and portray me as Mike Tyson, doing my life story,” said Tyson. “I think he’s splendid because he’s really up to par. I think he would do a magnificent job.”

Released in November of last year, the Spike Lee-directed HBO special achieved much critical acclaim, detailing the controversial life story of the former champ in his own words. And he seems to have no doubt that Foxx can do it justice on the big screen–with the proper weight training.

“I saw him the other night and we discussed it,” Tyson continued. “He doesn’t have the physicality but he will. He’s able to get bulky, so he’s capable of doing it in the future.”

Foxx has portrayed several famous characters on screen including musician Nathaniel Ayers, Crips co-founder Tookie Williams and Ray Charles, to which the latter earned him an Academy Award. The role of Mike Tyson should nestle up nicely in his filmography.
