Talib Kweli has long been labeled a “conscious” rapper and much of his life story is a testament to why he raps about things beyond fat asses and gold chains. Apart from being street smart, the Brooklyn MC boasts a much appreciated political savvy, which is no surprise considering he was raised by two parents whose careers take root in education.
Earlier this week, Talib took to Ferguson to personally experience the city’s unrest. During his trip, the Gravitas rapper live tweeted about protests and police interaction, which were disturbing to say the least. Following his trip, he made an appearance on CNN alongside Don Lemon whose rudeness prompted the rapper to react with distaste on live television. Talib went on to speak firmly on racism in America and police brutality, while shouting out several groups and organizations on the frontline.
The aforementioned set the viral universe ablaze and, much to our surprise, the majority of online commentators condemned the famous news reporter and sided with Talib.
