The Michael Brown shooting death in Ferguson has become not only a racial and national ordeal, but a political one as well. One figure who has surprisingly has remained mum on the issue is Hillary Clinton. The former secretary of state and perceived front-runner for the Democratic presidential candidacy in 2016 let her silence scream volumes Sunday afternoon at a book signing for her memoir Hard Choices.
After wrapping up a press conference for the book in Westhampton, N.Y., a journalist explicitly asked Mrs. Clinton what her “reaction to Ferguson” was and she replied with a “thank you all so much.”
Clearly, like many notable figures in society, she’s taking an unbiased stance on the headline breaking case until all the facts have been produced. Yet, if Obama was forced to speak on the situation–even ahead of Missouri state leaders–shouldn’t a hopeful commander-in-chief at least give a summarized statement on their thoughts?
