If there was ever an artist whose authentic talent was overshadowed by all things struggle, it’s Yung Berg.

The past is the past and the Chicago artist has been burying it with several placements with his penmanship. There is no need to look them up, either. While out at the 2014 BMI R&B Hip-Hop Awards, Berg told Hip-Hop Wired all his recent contributions to the culture in his typical braggadocio fashion.

“I stepped back a little bit,” Berg admits, realizing the last time you paid attention to his name had something to do with a national chain-passing incident. “I’ve been writing and producing; it’s not no knick-knack bullsh*t.”

Whether you love or hate him, he’s actually right. Berg proceeds to detail the Grammy nominations he’s scored as of late, including hits from Jeezy and Tamar Braxton. His mug will also be featured on the next VH1 rapper reality slugfest in Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood so it’s best you get accustomed to seeing his name in headlines again. (For better or worse.)
